A visit to Calgary isn't complete, for me at least, without a visit to the city's world famous Gun Shop Barber. That's right, a gun shop that's also a barber; you'll find it in Inglewood on 9th Avenue, and it's called Proline Shooters. I went there yesterday to browse the guns and get a cut.
Proline has a good, if smallish selection of firearms, and I cast a covetous eye at their burnished Sakos, gleaming behind the counter. Their pistol selection featured Glocks, Berettas and, I think, Sigs, plus a variety of I want one large revolvers. I may be wrong, but it seems that Canada bought into Beretta's PX4 Storm to a greater extent than the U.S. Whatever, Proline carries several variants.
Then, after looking at a couple of sporterized Lees in the 2nd hand rack, I paid a visit to Dan the barber.

We reminisced about his predecessor, Doug, who died of pancreatic cancer some years back. I liked Doug and was always curious about his socialism. Calgary's Red Barber, in a gun shop, that was him. May he rest in peace.
Haircut over, I headed out into the winter wonderland of 9th Avenue, and that, readers, was that.
Go to Proline, they're alright, and so's their barber, Dan.
Shoot straight,

I suspect that the variety in Texas may be better. How are they for cost?
It's a small shop, but what they had was good. I was surprised at the prices -- seemed pretty much the same as the US. Maybe cheaper, given the exchange rate.
They need to open the border to Americans to come north and buy Canadian arms and ammo. It will offset the dismal economy, made worse by Trudeau.
That's a really good point. Alberta's beginning to hurt and Trudeau's not making it any better; they need to diversify into guns and ammo. There's a ready cross border market, for sure.
How about an update on your Lee sporter project?
We may need to wait until Trump is the president so that he can negotiate the deal?
Probably they had sane prices since they haven't had a chief executive who continually makes noises about restrictions gun rights.
There's still a few of the older gun shops in Texas combined with other businesses, like an army surplus or hardware store. Haven't seen any barber shops, tho. The older style barbers are getting thin on the ground, being replaced by sports-themed men's hair salons, seems like.
I was just thinking that, Anonymous. It's stalled for the moment because I have to take it to a 'smith to get the barrel shortened and a forward rail installed. But stand by for a late Jan/early Feb update.
I don't think Jeb! is going to do it, LL, but maybe Trump can. After all, it's a win win -- we get cheap guns & ammo, Alberta gets a much needed revenue stream to make up for the oil patch implosion. Benefit all 'round.
It sure is hard to find a real barber these days, Mattexian. I don't like those "salon" places at all.
