  1. I enjoy watching sharp soldiers who mach well. That said, even though it was five decades ago when I did it, the amount of time they must spend getting those elaborate uniforms ready to go must be a pain! Of course, they would judge our company marching as a barely organized shamble.

  2. Great video.....though kilts seem rather......impractical in the damp climate of the British Isles.

And what's the old saying? Scotland became British and kept their freedom. Ireland remained Irish and lost theirs.

Hope you've recovered from the jet lag.

  3. Me too, WSF. And yes, imagine the hours of ironing, bulling and polishing, to say nothing of the actual drill itself.

To your point, my eldest was a cadet in the Calgary Highlanders and did all the above. He apologized about the state of unit's drill before passing out/graduating from Basic. You know what? Those kids did well, I was proud.

  4. The lag wasn't so bad, Infidel, oddly. Then there's kilts. Will Jockland follow the unfortunate Irish and lose their freedom or remain at liberty within the Sceptred Isle? That said, could what's left of the British Army stop them if they chose to leave?

  5. Land of the blooming heather,
    Land of the rotten weather,
Land o' the kilt and sporran,
    Underneath there's nothing worn,
How I wish the wind was warm,
    Scotland the Brave

  6. Well yes, Mr. Wolf, there is that.

Maybe I'll stay at the Balmoral next time, or the New Club.
