Our old enemy, the Weather, is at it again, changing from triple digit furnace to pounding rain, and all in the space of an hour. I tell you, our adversary can turn on a dime. So it wan't easy driving home from the 'sprawl, pretty much zero vis.
Still, we made it, by the grace of God. In other news, the Taliban's about to seize control of Afghanistan and we have to ask, why did one single American life die there? To fight the scourge of Jihad? For democracy, wimmyns' rights, rare earth minerals?
The people that used our fighting force as de facto mercenaries, for their own wealth, power and political leverage deserve an accounting. Imagine, your young soldier comes home minus legs, and all for what. So that a gang of millionaires can make themselves even richer and more powerful.
Don't get me wrong, defeat the Jihad, and by all means use extreme force, but playing some kind of game with peoples' lives, enemy or friendly, is beyond outrageous.
There's a special place in Hell for those that do. I say this as a religious professional. Of course you all know far more about this than I do. Just saying, I've got a kid in the fight.
Your Old Pal,
LSP

ReplyDeleteAfghanistan is a prolific provider of that basic commodity for the western elite.
ReplyDeleteOPIUM
Who controls the poppy fields, controls New York, LA, Seattle, etc, etc, etc, not to mention the dark, dank warrens of London, Liverpool, Marseilles, Paris.
Just my thoughts.
USSR stayed ten years and gave it up, I suspect we're slow learners; or it took twenty
years to build a good stock of ingots and rounds.
Unless you purge all the mohammedens you're wasting your time and everything else.
ReplyDeleteAfghan was the stupidest thing we've ever done.
What did we do instead? 7 yrs after 9/11 we put a radical moslem in the white house then re-lected the POS. Not only invited them into our country, but paid to fly them here. 650,000 Somalians to Minnesota for one small example.
I'm becoming more and more of an isolationist as time goes by. Close our borders (ha!) bring home our military and let the rest of the world burn.
ReplyDeleteThere is no special place in hell. It's all special.
ReplyDeleteAnd if they are not going to repent, let's arrange an early visit for them.
I'm with Infidel on this.
ReplyDeleteIf we have to go back, turn it into a parking lot...
ReplyDeleteLet's hope China is next to go full on in that cesspool.
ReplyDeleteThe first Taliban to reach for the lanyard on the embassy flagpole should have a JDAM land right at his feet.
ReplyDeleteNever happen, of course.

Just imagine the fortunes made, Anon!
ReplyDeleteKid, I know! Just bizarre.
ReplyDeleteThere'll come a point, Infidel, when the soldiers don't get their paychecks. What then. Mind you, that'll be the last thing to go, perhaps.
ReplyDeleteIn the meanwhile, please stop fighting and losing wars.
Right with you, Ed.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Adrienne.
ReplyDeleteNFO, what a total scandal. It's about time we actually won a war, eh?
ReplyDeleteGood call, WSF.
ReplyDeleteI think we flew 'em out in time, WWW.
ReplyDeleteI'm aghast.
I know, RHT. Like, wow. This whole thing is jaw-droppingly bad. At every level.
