Sunday Evening Morale Boost

Life for the Tzar! And life for the kid in Korea too. I'd like to thank you all for the prayers and intentions, it means a lot, and be sure I'll pass it on. In the meanwhile, you'll remember Russia's built a cathedral for the Armed Forces.

Can you imagine such a thing here or anywhere in the West? No, of course not. I ask you, who are the bad guys in this equation? Not the young patriots who signed up to serve their country and do something meaningful with their lives, that's for sure.

I won't bang on, you get the point.

God bless,

LSP

FABULOUS music, LSP!! That Glinka is MAGNIFICENT!! And that conductor!! What a commanding presence! And I absolutely LOVED the tinkling of the triangles & bells! But what's with that very staid and rather TOO "laid-back" audience?!? Instead of jumping to their feet in wild enthusiasm, the conductor had to sort of alert then that they could finally applaud (if they wanted to!!). Meantime, the chorus just sang its gorgeous heart out!!

And WHAT was that magnificent music that accompanied the Cathedral presentation? I was hoping to see some acknowledgment at the end, but it never appeared....

  2. Communism is something that Russia left behind a long time ago - as is state atheism.

Many people in the US don't appreciate that, and their ignorance makes them easily manipulable.

The US propaganda machine is a vicious thing these days.

  3. Music is The Abode of Snow - Bonnie Grace.

It would seem that Russia is more Christian than the US these days.

  4. I was surprised a couple of years back when seeing the cathedral to the Russian armed forces, but then remembered most people do not know of the sincerity of the Orthodox, whether Russian, Serbian, Greek, Armenian, Georgian or the two dozen other countries represented.

  5. 'Some' people respect the military... sigh

  6. I thought you'd like it, jdb! And yes, the conductor's most definitely living the dream... but imagine, the remarkable thing is that they STOOD. A few decades ago they'd have been sent to a gulag or worse.

We know, thanks to Kid, that the music's The Abode of Snow.

  7. LL, I have to say that playing on generational anti-Russian/Communist fear was a genius propaganda coup. Conducted by the commies, no less. What, 3+ years of Trump's a Russian spy? Wow.

Of course they hate Russia too, it's the one that got away.

  8. It sure would, Kid. Who's State Atheist now? Errrr, that'd be us. I'm amazed they still allow Christian padres in the military. How much longer?

  9. That's a very good point, Anon. I wasn't surprised by it because I keep up(ish) with the Orthodox thing and the Church's revival in Russia, which is remarkable. Still, the scale of the cathedral's amazing to me, and moving.

  10. NFO, can you imagine something similar being built here in the US? Neither can I.
