Women in the Military?

Some say women in the military is wrong, shouldn't happen. Are you sure? Not so fast, punters. Here at the Compound we love the fact that Melania's Colonel of the Dallas Light Cavalry (DLC). Walk, trot, canter, CHARGE.

Look, a Colonel.

And another.

Loyal and Ride on,

  2. "Some people say" is always a questionable statement.

I could post a bunch of links, and get caught up in SPAM filters, so all I can say is that you have access to the internet and can do searches.

588th Night Bomber Regiment - The Germans called them The Night Witches

    (From The Atlantic)
The 588th was the most highly decorated female unit in that force, flying 30,000 missions over the course of four years—and dropping, in total, 23,000 tons of bombs on invading German armies.

Fighter pilot Lydia Vladimirovna Litvyak (Лидия Владимировна Литвяк) one of only 2 female Aces in WWII. The other was her wingman Katya Budanova.

    Roza Georgiyevna Shanina (Ро́за Гео́ргиевна Ша́нина) – WWII Sniper. 59 confirmed kills.

There are more examples from WWII.

Back when Sally Ride was set to become the first American Woman in space "some people said" that women could survive space. Because Americans are ignorant of history. Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova was the first woman in space. She flew into space in June of 1963.

There is no mistake that all of these are from the old Soviet Union and most from WWII. When the Germans invaded under Operation Barbarossa, the Russians suddenly had their backs against the wall. They didn't think woman should be in the military either. Then when they didn't have a choice they were shocked and amazed to discover that women - in some roles at least - could be just as effective.

I didn't include the deadliest sniper in history - also WWII, also from the Soviet Union - because whenever I mention her name people tell me "some people say that her confirmed kill count is a lie."

    1. Excellent comment, Zendo! And I don't disagree.

I was just looking for an excuse to post those photos. I like the middle one best, but that's just me.
