Happy Birthday Ma'am

She was 21 at the time and swore to serve her people. She is 94 now and has upheld and lived by that oath. Your Highness, happy birthday.

God Save The Queen.

  1. In the world of queens and kings and monarchs in general, she stands apart as possibly the greatest.

  4. Compare the Queen at 21 to the average 21 yo today. No, on second thought, don't - the comparison is staggering.

    Happy Birthday, Queen Elizabeth.

  5. Yes, an exceptional individual. God Bless her. Thanks for the post. I'm not one much for "Royalty" but she is a standout.

She also served during WWII. Don't know enough of the details to comment about that respectfully, but that still gets my respect.

Please give us more of these people, we need them.

Imagine the Queen replaced by Price Charles who dreams of being a tampon.....

  8. God Save the Queen!

HM is made of stern stuff. Her father George VI was the last British Monarch to see action at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. He served as a Turret Officer for 'A' Turret on HMS Collingwood, for which he was mentioned in dispatches.

The Queen's husband, Prince Phillip, also had a distinguished Naval career and saw action as a sub-Lieutenant at the battle of Crete and was mentioned in dispatches serving on HMS Valiant at the battle of Matapan in 1941. He later served in the Pacific.

  9. LL, I know you do not say that lightly and I agree. Remarkable, the Old England and a better one to boot.

  10. Adrienne, I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing. Staggering's the word. We've devolved. Hugely.

She was a truck driver and mechanic in the Big One. Didn't go overseas, but was combat trained. There are pics of her inspecting the latest firepower and she looks like she knows what she's doing.

Don't make 'em like that no more.

  18. Kid -- I'm afraid she's pretty much the last of her kind. Though I hope I'm wrong. And think, when she made that 21st birthday speech, the Empire she was about to inherit was about to collapse. There's room for thought in therein.
