Just got the call from the diocese instructing all clergy to cancel public worship, so that's what's happening in the missions.
I'll say a Private Mass sine populo, because it's important, but people can and should make frequent Spiritual Communion. Here's a short form:
My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
God bless,
LSP
You have some elderly people in your flock. It might kill them if they contracted the Chinese plague. It's only proper to do this until we come up with treatment or a vaccine.
ReplyDeleteGood one.
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteAnd He is already there.
They said to stop services here, last week.
Some churches have gone to multiple smaller services and many have an online presence now.
They shouldn't be trying to cut God out of our lives right now, especially.
Cardinal Dolan cancelled all masses in the archdiocese last week. No known date on when they resume. I hope and pray I will be able to go to Easter mass in a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Parson. That one and the St. Patrick's prayer are now in my files.
ReplyDeleteLL, I don't like it but yes, it's a sensible directive. Keep the elderly safe from the Red Death, right?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kid. It's a good prayer, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteHe is, Linda. Mind you, I'd hesitate to contradict St. Alphonsus Ligouri! But yes, we most definitely need more God.
ReplyDeleteI hosted my Bible Study last night online with some conferencing software.
ReplyDeleteI was like hosting a radio show with callers.
But all conferencing hubs (Skype, etc,) are overwhelmed right now and the audio was "choppy".
Still, we fellowshipped around God's Word and we were gathered, so He was there :)
Same here, Infidel. I can always say a sin. pop., but I'd hate it if the people weren't able to go to Mass at Easter.
ReplyDeleteLet's pray that won't be the case.
So glad you found it helpful, drjim. I'm trying to be uplifting here...
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
A lot are doing that, Ed, and we might move to something like that here. Others are livestreaming worship, and that might work too.
ReplyDeleteAnd well done! The Body of Christ meets.
Keep the Faith.
Well said. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhy not broadcast a Mass on-line. We might not be able to receive Communion, but we can all join in with the responses and the intention. Also will the enclosed orders not be able to celebrate the Mass fully for all of us? Finally, in extreme circumstances the Church has accepted Godly members of the Laity to hear confession and grant absolution such as recorded in the Life of St Louis.
ReplyDeleteTrying to help, NFO!
ReplyDeleteExcellent St. Louis point, Anon, and a few in the diocese are livestreaming the Mass. I don't have the wifi power to do that at the missions but I'll certainly post an online Eucharist(s). And for sure, the enclosed orders are surely offering the sacrifice for all of us.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
