Shot Dead

I was driving to the local Tom Thumb after early morning Mass in Dallas when I noticed flashing lights in the rear-view. The cops were out in force.

Seems that a gunman was waiting outside the local Western Union for a cash delivery. When the armored car pulled up everything got "stand and deliver" but the driver wasn't having any of that, so he got shot in the arm, returned fire and fatally wounded the robber, who died later in hospital.

I use that Western Union from time to time. Maybe I'll reconsider.

Stations of the Cross tonight.

Die to wickedness and sin.

  1. LSP thank goodness you weren't at the bank at that point in time. It's sad and unfortunate that people have to resort to stealing, who knows what the reason was for, but the robber took the chance and paid dearly for it. May God rest his soul.

  3. Some people are so desperate that they will try anything. Very sad event.

  4. I guess, Rick. The robber was 26 years old, apparently. Good thing no one else was killed.

  5. I hope the driver is okay. Even though the shooting was justified and he acted in self-defense ending a life must be a difficult thing to live with.

  6. First I have to ask what is a Tom Thumb?

Thank goodness you weren't at the Western Union at the time of the robbery. Gotta give the driver props for standing up to the robber. Praying for the robber's soul. God Bless.

  8. My thoughts entirely, Infidel.

A "Tom Thumb" is a kind of supermarket, Teresa. Well done driver -- lets hope the shooter repented...

Julie, I'll get right on it...

    God bless.
