All kinds of thunder, lightning and storm here.
Apocalyptic? Yep. An omen?
Obvs, the UK just got rid of hereditary peerage in the HOL, disaster, and lightning strikes in North Central Texas as rain pounds. So we retreat to our compounds even as the flimsy homes of today's McMansion millionaires are washed asway in the flood.
LSP

HOL?
ReplyDeleteHouse of Lords, Chuck.
DeleteHOL = House of Lords (the upper chamber to the House of Commons at Westminster.)
ReplyDeleteCollectively known as a "wretched hive of scum and villainy".
nbc, please don't forget skulduggery and malfeasance.
DeleteSo how are the British going to fill the seats in the HoL, LSP?
ReplyDeleteThrough grift, graft and outright corruption, Bill.
DeleteHa! Same way we do it over here on this side of the pond then. Begs the question, which came first, their chicken or our egg?
DeleteExactly, Wild. What an epic disaster my generation's been.
DeleteThe Hereditaries were useful as they did not depend on party affiliation. Some of them did align along party lines but others maintained their independence. This worked well over the years and their influence often outweighed their numbers. It's yet another loss to the country.
ReplyDeleteAny replacements will be selected from the party faithful on both sides (Tory and Labour).
nbc, I'm appalled and totally agree.
