Kaboom

First it was pagers, those totally forgotten by everyone bar Hezbollah comms devices. There you are, in Beirut, fixing to page your ter pal and then, boom. Dam, who knew Mossad had rigged your pager to the Hezzy supply chain, but they had. Bad day for Hezzy, no doubt about it, but was it over, like Joe Biden or a bad Taylor Swift song? No, the op intensified.

Yesterday saw walkie talkies, cell phones, solar panels, radios, household appliances, you name it, all exploding on our Jihad pals in Lebanon. What can we say? A brilliant op, no doubt about it, and it reminds me, on a lesser scale, of a Sergeant back in the '80s.

Our convo went something like this: "There we were. We knew the shooter's location and his weapon. All we had to do was swap out his ammo with rounds that'd explode in the chamber. Boom, job well done. But command said no."

I guess that Irishman got lucky, Hezbollah? Not so much. RWA comments: "The way this operation combines truly malicious cruelty and personalized precision is real art, perfect terror attack. The demoralization alone must be worse than the kinetic impact."

Quite. Leaving aside the knotty issue of the safety of your electronic devices, will they explode if you post a mean tweet, what's your take on Israel's latest Lithium Offensive? Mine is this. If I were Israel facing an existential threat (Thank God you're not - Ed.) I'd go full on defeat the enemy, no holds barred. Pagers, walkie talkies, smart fridges, EVs, phones, tablets, wifi speakers, you name it, all fair game.

Point being, if you're in a state of war, see Israel Oct 7, do it to win. That said, does Operation Pager cross the line into unjust war and ethically invalidate itself. I don't think so, but you might. Feel free to disagree.

Advance to Contact,

LSP

  1. Israel is a Left-Wing Techno-fascist police state. They have confiscated churches and turned them into 'gay hotspots.' They invented the technology for the Vaxx Passports. One can't even own private property in Israel and nobody but those loyal to the Regime have anything approaching Constitutional Rights. Klaus Schwab called them a 'model democracy', which speaks volumes in and of itself.

Israel has been committing acts of terror even before and ever since they became independent. We point the finger at China for fighting actual Jihadists among the Uighurs and Rohingyas; yet we turn a blind eye to Israel engaging in the most barbaric ethnic cleansing and genocide since the Khmer Rouge. As for the exploding communications devices, mostly innocent civilians were injured or killed. If Iran had done something like this, we wouldn't praising their 'ingenuity'

I really despise this Double Standard when it comes to Israel. They interfere in our elections while we point the finger at Russia. They have dual-citizens in our government---don't even have to register as foreign agents---but we keep pointing the finger at China. They have government contracts selling stuff like this kind of Black Budget weapons and surveillance software used to spy on us and to single out and proscribe anti-Israel dissidents. No other country could get away with any of this.

    3. NIghtwind, I'm not blind to what you say, at all, but does Israel Have the right to defend itself? I think it does, and it's enemies should expect the same kind of retribution they'd meet out given the chance. Not unlike, say, Bomber Command over Dresden (a crime, imo).

Still, and to your point, should we believe that an intel agency which was able to take out Hezbollah leaders with explosive pagers, ffs, wasn't aware of Oct 7?

      The whole thing stinks.

  2. China, of course, has put spies in governors and senators offices, bribed the turtle, and has and is shutting down Christian churches and Falun Gong, engages in organ harvesting from its minorities and those in political disfavor, and pushes drugs (fentanyl) to American youth (not an exhaustive list of offences). So the preponderance evidence shows China to be a much greater threat than Israel.

However, I'd like to also point out that the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, is a major part of the reason that Gaza is still not 100% under Israeli control after almost a year. I have a hard time believing that a German army division of 1938 would have taken more that a couple of months to completely subdue Hamas in Gaza and establish order. So, if any moral downside is associated with these latest attacks on Hezbollah, they should be attributed to the Mr. Galant, not Israel as a whole.

  3. Anon: Whether what you say about China is true or not; the point is that Israel shouldn't be getting a free pass---let alone encouragement---for doing the same or worse things.

  5. I'd describe as a beautifully focused operation, designed to mess with the terrorists heads :).

  7. Badfrog: Spoken like a True Believer. Say, how do like the top recipient of AIPAC donations being Chuck Schumer? Or AIPAC trying to unseat Conservative congressman Thomas Massie? Are you happy with the Israeli Government donating trucks to George Soros' migrant caravan operations? Or maybe Mossad working with Bill Gates to develop vaxx passports and contact-tracing software? Tell us all what about Israel you really like.

  9. I don't want to enter into political discussions but I can observe that any type of innovative boobytrap can - and will be - used against anyone or everyone eventually. Can you imagine the number of operators on all sides of the political spectrum who are thinking... hey - not a bad idea. I do admire the conviction of the comments.

  12. Regardless of how effective it may have been, it is an outright terrorist weapon.
It was not some c4 in a telephone handset aimed at someone specific, it was aimed at an entire population. And that other fellow is right, if it is wrong and evil for an enemy to do it, than it still is when a "friend" does it. They might as well have been dropping bombs in cafes and shops like the IRA.

If Iran had done that to anybody, we'd be dropping bombs on Tehran right now. At least, with a Republican in office anyway. So how is it magically ok when the Jews do it?

So you still going to be fine with it when the US govt starts doing that to conservatives they don't like?? Because the way I've heard it Israel didn't invent that trick, it was the US govt. that invented it.

  13. Good job, Israel!
I don't believe I've heard of Israels beheading babies in front of their parents. I don't believe I've heard of Israels hogtying children then burning them alive. Gang rapes? Throwing the bodies of raped women onto the streets and the people, who voted out the PLO and voted in Hamas, desecrating the bodies, ascribed to Israels?
For 4,000 years various people have tried to eradicate Jews. They survive. Gods will?

  14. Regardless of whatever reasons may be claimed for doing it, a terrorist weapon is a terrorist weapon.

You can talk all day about what some Muslim may have done. You can talk all day about Israel is justified in anything they do forever because Holocaust. A terrorist weapon is a terrorist weapon and those who use them are terrorists. And there is no way you can talk around that.

We took no excuses at Nuremberg nor when we executed some 6000 Japanese officers and there are no excuses acceptable for this either.

From what I've read Israel claims to have killed/wounded a bunch of Hezbollah. I've read at least 600 wounded, many got their nuts blown off. And to that they did this to over 25,000 people. Collateral damage? Sounds mostly collateral to me.

But it seems that many here think that "We had to destroy the village to save it." Is a valid justification for wiping out the village.

There is an old adage about how the more you fight you enemy, the more you become like him. Well, there are people in Israel who have done just that, haven't they?

God did not command that we not kill, he commanded that we not murder. Blowing people away at random is not fighting, it is murder.

And on top of that, if you are going to say that Israel is justified in wiping out the Palestinians because of whatever reason. Then you just said the Nazis, for whatever reason, were also justified in wiping out someone they counted as an enemy.

Yet again, you can't have this both ways. If it is wrong, it is wrong, regardless of who is doing it this time. And that some of you, including a man of the cloth, does not understand that... Well that is just sad.

    1. Johnnyreb, at what point does a just war become an unjust war. Good question, eh?

You'll note that that I haven't said Israel is justified in wiping out Palestinians for whatever reason.

I haven't said this once. I have said that Israel has a right and implied duty to defend itself. Perhaps I'm wrong?

    2. Hey Johnnyreb! I hope you didn't take my comment the wrong way. I wasn't very clear. I said "I do admire the conviction of the comments" - I was admiring the strong opinions of the posters here - not the attack. When I said "hey - not a bad idea" I was projecting what people with ill intent may say. I do believe people have the right to defend themselves and I am ordained. I do not respect the use of traps and tactics that harm innocents - unfortunately in war that is too common.

  16. LSP: Well you mentioned Israel facing an existential threat and having a right to defend itself. Don't the Palestinians and Lebanese have the same right and face the same threat?

In the elections here in the US, we've heard rhetoric about an Immigrant Invasion displacing our culture. That's exactly how the State of Israel was founded. Israel has had 14 Prime Ministers: half weren't born in Palestine and none of others are more than third-generation. The people who'd lived there since the days of Alexander the Great were displaced from their homes and herded into ghettoes, deprived of even the most basic human rights and forced to live under Zionist Political Correctness. Israel has made no secret of their desire to exterminate them: isn't that an existential threat?

    1. Night Wind, good call. and Is that what we're facing, war to the point of genocide? I abhor that. In mind, does the Jewish State have the right, as it were, to exist or not?

More than a few Palestinians would say not, from the river to the sea, sorta thing. And Israel reacts accordingly. But where does this stand in the measure of Just War?

      Nowhere good, I'm afraid.
