I was cruising in my '72 Mustang Grande from Waco to Nacogdoches to go see a girl I was madly in love with. It was about midnight. I do not remember much about that drive. But...
I had MTB blasting. 8 Track. I was sure enough "Searchin' for the Rainbow." Her name was, ah that's not important. But MTB was such a tight group. Quality all the way. I played that album the whole way there and back.
Interestingly: I YouTubed "Fire on the Mountain" a few weeks ago. And relived being 18 all over again.
Marshall Tucker put out some great tunes. Hank Williams Jr. did a couple of first rate covers of some Tucker songs. These have has more of a southern rock feel to them and include Toy Caldwell and Charlie Daniels in the personnel. I think he knocks both songs out of the park. Hank's a formidable artist when he's not posturing.

A sad footnote about the artist of the LP cover, Ken Featherston. Ken worked as an artist creating original posters for the acts that came to Austin's Armadillo World Headquarters. See https://exhibits.library.txstate.edu/homegrown/exhibits/show/travelingbands/kenfeatherston
I remember Texas in the earlyish '70s because we'd fly over from England to see family in Denton. Is it me or was Texas somehow more carefree then? Of course I was very young and we on vacation, but still.
