I remember reading a number of years ago that former British colonies fared much better those of other nations (France, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands) after achieving independance. Hong Kong unfortunately is being steamrolled by the Reds.
I think, DOS, that we did well in India but don't much about the African side of things. That said, it seems Great Britain less brutal than other European powers who were pretty... brutal.
