Waylon's been awesome for a long time. While his best known output came in the 70s and later, he came out with some great stuff in the 60s, particularly some songs written by Kristofferson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Yx9Gl2Bx5Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2SFmrsI4Pc He could also cover Chuck Berry. Live version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ5DlUe8bNE
Lived hard, hung with the best of that era, died too young from living hard. All that went into his music. Similar to “you can’t play the blues until you’ve lived them”. The same goes for Outlaw Country.

ReplyDeletePaul, I 100% agree. Remarkable he lived so long, eh?
ReplyDeleteMr. NFO, I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteAh, Jim, I know, and I'm one of those malfeasants who came to early Waylon late. Thanks for the links.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Waylon? Big Ball in Cow Town. Many have covered it but none like him.
