They say the badge is made of gunmetal from a French cannon captured at Alex. It became plastic, though smart soldiers bought the real thing; it then amalgamated and then disappeared. You see, all those votes don't come cheap and we'll never, ever have to fight a war again. Good gamble, idiots.
Speaking of which, I announced to Ma LSP, "I'm a veteran!" She replied, "No you're not, you haven't even been in a war." On the contrary, Ma'am, I am the veteran of a 1000 psychic wars, and the Glos. Rgt.
Respect to all who served and are serving.
LSP
We owe our Veterans much, Parson. Thank for your service with an ally.
ReplyDeleteI clicked on the song, thinking you were also a BOC fan, but saw it was Hawkwind.
Try this one: https://youtu.be/jGKNaIXtBZQ
Take a care, you lot, to look up the Gloucestershire Regiment's service in Korea when you get a chance. Very serious stuff.
ReplyDeleteNow as to LSP's veteran status: If the Godless commie Rooskies had come thru the Fulda Gap during LSP's tenure, he would have achieved "real" veteran status most ricky-tic.
They also serve, who stand on the wall and wait. Lest we forget.
Nice one, drjim, haven't heard that in ages! And for sure, a BOC fan.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wild. And yes indeed, that US Presidential Citation was well deserved. Not happy with HMGOV at all for disbanding the regiments, what a crime. Canada was better, they kept the units/cap badges and made them reserve.
