It's a moving tale of cat, soldiery, animal rescue and country life in Texas, but how's it going, how is the kitty? I was worried at first, because the kitten ran foolishly from the safety of the Compound. "The golden little cat?" offered one neighbor, "He's probably been eaten." Such is nature, red in tooth and claw.
But not to worry, the next day at around Noon, a woman was singing over her laundry, what a sweet sound, and up bounded the cat, who galloped across the road in search of food and water. He found it and played ridiculously.
Since then, the cat spends his time between several local porches, visiting the Compound's in early morning and late evening, typically. I like that. Fierce little creature and an asset.

I'm afraid that you're going to have to come up with a name for the feline if it's going to be a mascot at the DLC's mess.
ReplyDeleteIts social galavanting is typical for cats and it takes the pressure off you to see to its every need.
It's good that he's taken to protecting your neighborhood, Parson. Or at least patrolling it to see what trouble a kitty can get into. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou all be safe and God bless.
I know, Anon! So cute.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point, LL. I've settled on Cat for now but some argue for Private. What's your call?
ReplyDeleteHe should be an asset against mice/rats, Linda. Let's see how this evolves.
ReplyDeleteNot all news is bad! I'm glad the cat survived.
ReplyDeleteHow about naming it "Pete Best." I mean if Pete can survive being canned by The Beatles then the cat can survive anything.
And no, two years from now do not fire "Pete Best" and replace him with a cat named "Ringo."
On my 3 am walk to the subway here in the Bronx I have seen at least three different stray cats. I've taken to bringing a packet of Temptation Cat Treats with me and giving them to the strays.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, just like the commercial, shake the bag and the cats come running!
