Traffic

Why is Texas so awesome? Perhaps because of its light and sky, which point to higher things, a vast frontier with all the freedom therein. That said, I35's a nightmare in the Waco chokehold. Get 'round that by exiting the highway and taking 84 through what's left of town to 6 and rejoining 35 from there. Presto, you've missed the hideous traffic jam.

In other news, the POC who shot up a school in metrosprawl Arlington has been released from jail on a 75k bond, as opposed to the Kenosha Kid who shot 3 skateboard revolutionaries in self-defense and spent months in prison and's on a $2 million bond.  Such systemic white privilege. Don't say whitewashed sepulchers of Pharisaical grift, corruption and malfeasance.

Speaking of privilege, my eldest's been running around the local park, he's on an incredibly racist Columbus Day weekend pass, with something like 80 Lbs weight, maybe more. "Easy, tiger," I urged with paternal affection, "Don't hurt yourself." But what can I say, the youth of today.

  1. Re: The POC. I likely mentioned at some point (not here) that our daughter is Arlington PD, and her husband is Mansfield PD SWAT. She responded to the suspected shooter's residence, and his team responded to the school. This as we watched the early reports of "multiple gunshot victims" while baby sitting their seven month old son. Some tense moments for us until we heard that none of the wounded were LEO's. We did get to see our daughter working in the background on Fox News.

  2. It seems that you have the traffic beaten and that John has "a weightless pack" - Yankee ingenuity at its finest.

Have a fun weekend, my friend.

  3. Traffic, as it should be…altho, thinking LL has even less. If we see an unknown vehicle drive up the road it’s usually someone lost.

POC- We enjoy watching crime investigation shows and have gotten to the point where we say upfront “Just got out on parole.” Seems no one is held accountable for freeing criminals. H/t to RHT447’s daughter…not an easy job these days.

  4. When I was younger, I'd run up a 30 ft ladder with a pack of shingles on each shoulder. Those were the days my friend. We thought they'd never end.

  5. LSP - don't forget all of the folks from J6 who are STILL in the clink and are not being allowed to make bail. And most of them are not charged with anything beyond misdemeanors.

  6. Really glad to hear she's safe, RHT. Prayers up.

  7. Thanks, LL. He insisted on storming off into the dark... and no, I didn't join in, far too heavy, and cooking Mac/Cheese seemed like the better option. No meat on Fridays, you see.

  8. Right on, PM. But please be careful when it comes to unknowns. Shoot the enemy, not the friend, obvs.

  9. Ah, Kid. I used to be able to do concrete laboring and run with a 40 Lb pack, metal helmet, massive gun and all the rest of it for as long as someone told me to do it. Not anymore. No. These days I just kick back, pop a cold one, switch on Mary Hopkin and trade some DOGE$.
