I've never lived in Scotland, LL, but always enjoy Edinburgh (been a few years tho) and pipe bands. They used to say the Scots regiments were still "living in the 1950s" in their... culture. Don't know if that's still true, maybe the 1970s?
LSP, it's probably fair to say that they still live by the old values and maintain their traditions. To some, that may be a negative, to me, that's how honourable men should live.
Watching those United Kingdom marches, I marvel at the officers holding swords. Those arms must get very tired.
