Victory

Far-sighted readers of this inconsequential mind blog will know that the Diocese of Fort Worth has been in a protracted legal battle with the Episcopal Church. Why?

Because we decided to break free of their rainbow embrace in 2008, so the enraged unicorn sued the diocese for all its money and assets. This belongs to us, the gaily colored beast hissed with a stamp of its lacquered hoof, and proceeded to lawyer up. That's the context.

I'll spare you the blow-by-blow, but after a decade plus of incredibly expensive litigation, Texas' Supreme Court ruled decisively in our diocese's favor last May. Sorry, unicorn, you're not allowed to steal all their stuff, was the gist of the unanimous ruling. Undaunted, the aggressively litigious Church of Tolerance got to work and appealed all the way to the top, to SCOTUS itself. And here's the punchline:

As of today, SCOTUS refused to hear their appeal. It's dead, sunk, lost. They don't get to thieve our property and money. It's not theirs, and no amount of chicanery, skulduggery and malfeasance, and there's been plenty, can make it so.

What a great result. It means our clergy and people get to stay in their Compounds, accounts intact. This is a relief to me, obviously. But more than that, it's a vindication of the Church of God and those Christians who've remained true to the Gospel and the Faith once delivered by Christ to the Apostles.

The next step is this. Texas' Supreme Court will order the lower court in Tarrant county to enforce its May ruling. Then the games begin, as the enraged unicorn charges around the diocese attempting to recoup some of its enormous losses, as in cash.

We'll see how that goes, but I don't think the spitting fury of the horned glitter pony's going to go very far. In fact, it's rumored the disco ball quadruped's facing a bill for our insurance company's not inconsiderable legal costs. In the meanwhile, Te Deums sing out and we celebrate...

VICTORY,

LSP

  1. They've been slapped down twice now, and yet they still continue their thieving ways.

I'm happy to hear you're prevailing, Parson!

  2. Wait. (snort) Wait...

You mean the Church founded by telling the Catholic Church to go jump the English Channel and kept their hands on all of the Catholic Church's property tried to stop all y'all from keeping your church's stuffs?

    Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Would have been totally hilarious if one of the judges actually had stated that little fact.

    Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Glad you won against the Church of God's not Really Real.

Good for you and yours. Hope you get your court expenses back, in full.

  3. Mr. Beans, a friend of mine, a newly minted Padre right out of Sandhurst, turned up at the Mess of his unit for the first time and there was the RC chaplain, complete with a pug dog, thank you very much.

"So tell me," said the Irish Captain, "What does it feel like to be part of a church founded by a syphilitic tyrant?"

    Heh.

Well, to the point, my crew want to end that schism. Part of this means fighting back the libs, and I'd suggest the fight's pretty much universal, at least in the West.

    Stealing stuff? Point.

  6. Heh. Syphalitic tyrant. Heh.

Now, you really want to put the wind into an old school Church of Englander?

Just mention the Levelers... OOOOOga booooooga!

They're the Cathars of the Catholic Church, but at least we had the sense to cut the head off that snake, literally, no, really, like literally... :)

Religious wars are so much... fun... yeah.

But turning your Church back to the Way? Good on all of you.

  8. Congratulations. All entities physically located in Texas should remember where they are. Life takes on a new meaning when you cross the Red, the Sabine or the Rio Grande. As a character in a story I'm working on said, "God spoiled us by making us Texan."

  12. Hmmm, Beans, now you've got me thinking about the Albigensian crusade.

Monsignor Knox of Enthusiasm fame, speculated that the Cathars and the early protestant sects which followed on, were the heirs of Phrygian(?) gnosticism. He had a point, think inner light/illumination. I don't know if there's a physical lineage which persisted over the centuries, but it's possible.

Anyway, check out Enthusiasm by Knox if you're interested and get the time. Interesting stuff.

  16. Although I am no longer (actively) engaged in the comings & goings of the Episcopal Church (it was, after all, my late husband's affiliation, but in the past, I was VERY happy to be a part of it with him - and we both had a wonderful relationship with the Anglicans and all the wonderful parishioners. BUT - and this bothered both of us! - the insane leftist politics left both of us cold; and after husband's passing, I stayed with the flock for another year or so; but, in time and eventually, just never attended services or was otherwise engaged.
