Yes, it's Friday evening and time to spin up the jukebox. I'll go first, and because today's been all about lawyers, guns and money, here it is.
Jim asked for Steve Young's Tobacco Road. Great song and a good call.
Nothing wrong with Pancho and Lefty either, thanks, RHT. I like Emmylou's version.
And Brig requested Waylon and Jessi's Storms Never Last. What a great choice.
With a H/T to Jim and WSF, here's the original Big Ball's in Cowtown. Have we devolved since 1949? Sure looks like it to me.
On topic, this one's for LL, who's focusing on the Great Reset and life in the Hive. Sorry, arcology. Do you remember the tale of Babel? Let's hear it for Hawkwind.
Rock on,
LSP
Gordon Lightfoot.

Nice one, Anon. Curiously, I used to (once or twice) see Peter Green Green shuffling around Richmond, back in the day.
ReplyDeleteWell, I hit the wrong key obviously. Anon is me, RHT447.
ReplyDeleteHadn't heard that early version. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOne that spoke to me as a young man.

Been redone many times but this is the original by the composer and his wife.
I recall the free standing juke boxes and those little ones at your table at the diner. Scrolling through the titles, looking for a good one and then putting your dime in and listening to it clunk, then the song. I liked the sixties hits that were pervasive on those machines. Up beat music, music themed on lost love, Country Western where you just lost your truck and your dog.
ReplyDeleteI'm honored to be represented twice on todays jukebox. WSF posted the link to the Ian and Sylvia song above. Last I checked Ian Tyson, though crowding 90, was still around. He's an icon in the western music field. He did a beautiful version of the classic Judy Garland tune.

He also recorded traditional western songs.

A more modern tune by him.

Well, I know Fredd has a thing for Tiptoe Through The Tulips...
ReplyDeleteRHT, good COMSEC.
ReplyDeleteNice one, WSF. I like that.
ReplyDeleteLL, I remember those because there was a diner 'round the corner from KPH's which had them, on every table. Pretty cool. The mini jukes are gone now and Gloria's charges around 12 bucks for a plate of diner food. It's packed. Huh.
ReplyDeleteGreat links, Jim. Stay tuned for the next jukebox excursion.
ReplyDeleteNow that, Kid, is a very good point. Fredd's caveat in mind, will our playful puppy manage to pull itself off the miserable low .05s? Not today, apparently. Come on, Shiba, we're not gonna get to the MOON if you keep playing about in the ditches.
ReplyDeleteThat said, there's obviously good support in the high .04s, which ain't bad for a coin that was at .001/2 in Jan. Hmmmm. Of course I didn't but in at that point, foolishly.
Let's hope the dog doesn't go all USS Titanic on us, fare thee well.

What? No Ramones? How about "The KKK took my Baby away" or "I want to be sedated"?
ReplyDeleteWhoa, WWW, hadn't heard that! Puppy's jousting about in the 5s...
ReplyDeleteDammit, Infidel, I missed the Ramones. But not to worry, next time.
ReplyDeleteHow about a compromise: "Rainy Days and Mondays' by The Carpenters.
