Here's my Uncle at Eton, sometime in the '60s. I post this because: 1. It's awesome and 2. It's awesome.
That said, he was a Democrat, the party of the Old South and States Rights, of the Republic, and he flew the flag. Respect. Would he do that today or would he be holding up the Rainbow Ensign, the battle flag of the new Democrat Party?
Libs say he would and I turn to them and reply, "You're utterly deluded, if not driven insane by Satan, which you probably are." They gnash their teeth and stomp away. Sometimes they begin to moan and shout.
Floreat,
LSP
The democrat party were for states rights. Now they're for the overriding concerns of big tech and multi-national corporations.
ReplyDeleteHow things change.
In the Never Forget Where You Came From department: One of my great-great grandfathers enlisted in the 11th Texas Cavalry in March 1862, shortly before his 17th birthday. He was discharged for a medical condition in October and immediately joined the Frontier Regiment, a state unit, where he served until June 1865. One of my wife's great-great-grandfathers enlisted in the 10th Texas infantry around the same time. He lived in Parker County. The regiment mustered at Waco, marched to Gonzalez for training, then walked to Shreveport and got on a steamboat or two for a trip down the Red, up the Mississippi to the Arkansas and then upriver to Little Rock. He died in September 1862 from a lung infection. He walked a long way to die, but many thousands of others also did the same.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Parson, though I never knew him. He would probably have burned a rainbow flag. Just my take on people back then.
ReplyDeleteBack when I was a Democrat Precinct Committeeman, when challenged about the difference between the parties, I used my pie analogy. "The GOP is most concerned about how the pie is divided; who get what. The Democrats are most concerned there is a pie". That is why I say President Trump is the best Democrat I know of. Starting with the Lightbringer, I haven't voted for any Democrat president or senator candidate.
ReplyDeleteI am sure Liz had a dress like that.
ReplyDeleteThe worm has most definitely turned, LL.
ReplyDeleteI was moved by that, Sgt.
ReplyDeleteHe probably would, Linda. Strange how standing for the poor and oppressed became an exercise in trans toiletry.
ReplyDeleteWell said, WSF, and you'd think more Dems would see that. Some do, like Brendan Stracka, who was just arrested by the FBI. Can't be having that Thought Crime because we're anti-establishment. Good Lord...
ReplyDeleteShe may have done, Anon. But all I recall is a lot of black. Hmmm.
