The Roast Beef Of Olde Texas

We didn't go for turkey this year at the Dallas Collective, we went for beef, a rib roast, the roast beef of Olde Texas. And yes, it was delicious.

The Left, I've discovered, hates Thanksgiving and attempts to rebrand it with snappy new titles like "Friendsgiving" and "UnThanksgving." That'll catch on. "Hey man, wanna come over to my place for Friendsgiving?" Awkward silence, then, "What? Why did you masculine profile me? Like, WTAF? And anyway, it's 'UnThanksgiving, Nazi.'"

Blue Menshevik agreed and accused us of being "white patriarchal oppressors," wedded to "hate food." He/Xe didn't get any beef. As ye reap, so shall ye sow, dog.

God bless,

LSP

  1. I’m sure that Blue Warrior spared your lives because attendees provided him table scraps. He can get feisty if not properly fed. And I suspect that roast beast is high on his approval list.

  2. Hashem bless you and yours.

I made a turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes and stuffing.

The older one ate some turkey. The younger one wouldn't touch ANYTHING - not even mashed potatoes which, up until now, was one of their favorites. The wife, on the other hand, had two helpings.

I didn't make my normal cranberry sauce - I'm the only one who eats it, and fruit is not on my diet. That, and some of the other traditional dishes, always get left uneaten except for "leftover disposal dad" so I didn't bother.

I've down about 30 pounds, with another 15-20 to go, so I don't want to cheat which will end up being a cheat month! :P

  4. I did a turkey breast in my Instant Pot. It's not my favorite, and would have much preferred the beef. Your roast looks beautiful - nice and pink, as it should be.

What's up with that whole friendsgiving thingie? My ex-brother's goofy commie daughter in Cali "celebrates" it, but she also (I think) celebrates buddha having found the Catholic Church lacking is some way. Sigh...

  5. That looks(ed) good! Somehow I doubt there is much left. And I'm betting Blue got his treat too!

  7. Adrienne, Thanksgiving is apparently raysisst and evil, so they had to change the name. What joyless, miserable, Bolshevik puritans.

But the beef was delicious! I think we'll go down that route again for Christmas.

  8. Thanks, WWW. So easy and so tasty -- 15 minute sear at 450, then 15 minutes a pound at 375. Boom.

  12. My cranberry sauce is cooked cranberries (boiled in water with a pinch of salt until mushy) and then, when cooled, stir in the juice of either a tangerine or blood orange. Add in a spoonful of brown sugar or maple syrup (I prefer the latter).

  14. Currently using the turkey bones to make broth. The older one looked at the simmering pot and said "That's disgusting"!
