It was a normal morning at the Compound. There I was, drinking coffee on the porch when one of the team came by.
What's this, LSP, some kind of JWTS ? (Jungle Warfare Training School)
No, Chief, just a hedge.
Hunh. Looks like an insurgency to me.
With that, the man responsible for setting up various police forces in various parts of the world stalked through the undergrowth to church, leaving me sharpening a kukri and feeling guilty.
Yes, the DLC (Dallas Light Cavalry) is an irregular unit, perhaps especially at HQ itself, but there are standards. Insurgency? Mutiny? Zero tolerance.
So I fired several lazy sepoys and a couple of Mau-Mau out of a canon and picked up the hedge trimmer myself. It was fast and furious work, I can tell you, but in remarkably short order the green mutiny was at an end and peace restored. But what is peace?
The tranquility of order, clearly, which the Compound now enjoys along its leafy perimeter.
Carry on,
LSP
Must be that British military training. I once cut the end off my right ring finger with a hedge trimmer.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Parson!
ReplyDeleteIt gratifying to see things return to normal at the compound.
ReplyDeleteMakes it easier to see people trying to sneak up on you now.
ReplyDeleteOne never knows who, or what, may have been lurking in that jungle. They are foiled now.
ReplyDeleteNice job, LSP!!
ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky. I have hundreds of bushes to trim. Good thing I love doing it. I have the same corded trimmer as you, but I much prefer my battery operated one.
And.............now I have my new battery powered weed wacker and it's positively heavenly. While ranging far afield not tethered to an orange cord I hear Aretha Franklin singing:
Oh freedom (freedom)
Oh freedom
Oh, freedom (yeah)
Oh freedom
Oh freedom (freedom)
Oh freedom
Oh freedom
Oh ya got to have
Hey! think about it
You! think about it
WSF -- Ouch!
ReplyDeleteFinger off the trigger...
Keeping it all together, drjim. No green mutineers here.
ReplyDeleteYou must visit again, LL. I think you'd approve of the "facelift."
ReplyDeleteThat, Linda, is an excellent point.
ReplyDeleteJim, we must thank God for that, and the trimmer.
ReplyDeleteInteresting you'd say that, Adrienne. Ma LSP just invested in a battery version (I've got the old one) and she likes it a lot.
ReplyDeleteAretha!
Ma LSP and I are definitely kindred spirits.
ReplyDeleteAdrienne, I feel you must meet!
