Diocese of Fort Worth Wins Big - Libs Lose Hard

Perhaps you know the subtext of this frivolous, inconsequential mind blog. Viz. The Compound and its Missions have run the risk of being seized by the Episcopal Church (TEC) for over a decade. Long story very short, our diocese left the rainbow communion in 08/09 and the Dorothies proceeded to sue us for all our cash and property.

This, they exclaimed with a click of glittery heels, belongs to us! We disagreed and so too did the Texas Supreme Court. On Friday morning, the Texan Justices eviscerated the Episcopal Church and ordered a lower court to reverse its ruling, in our favor.

In practical terms, this means that I get to keep the Compound and its missions, while the degenerates are forced, by order of the court, to wander furiously about with large Ls branded into their foreheads.

Blue Heeler

That aside, the Episcopal Church has spent at least $12 million on this lawsuit, all funded from its "mission" budget. Think about that. Twelve million dollars for mission spent on lawyers, not one of which brought a single soul to Christ. Ponder the math.

And in the meanwhile, sing a Te Deum.

Love,

LSP

  1. He works in mysterious ways, indeed.

Is it inappropriate to offer congratulations?

  2. Thanks for the phone call the other day and the in-person announcement (yes, I may be LSP's favorite). Now, you can suggest that TEC evacuate the properties that they shared and worship the Prince of Darkness - and practice their abominations elsewhere.

I credit Blue Avenger (and his mystical influence on people) for the big win. I know that nobody else does, but he can charm the cherry fried pie right off the plate.

    1. LL, you're right. Blue Justice played a large part in the victory and now rightfully expects his slice of the pie. A large slice at that!

    1. Thanks, WSF. It's a big relief and yes, time for growth.

  4. Congratulations. As I may have told you, I observed one of these diocese vs. breakway missions in my youth, and the verdict went the other. Raise a glass to fissiparous tendencies!

    1. I certainly did, Chas! And for sure, these things have almost always gone in favor of TEC. They were certain they'd win. But no.

  6. Well congratulations to you all, Parson! Praise God!
What a waste of money indeed. No one lead to Christ, no poor fed and clothed. A shame.
Glad you all can rest easy though. God bless. :)

    1. Linda, the waste of money is scandalous, to put it politely. Well, onwards.

And of course they wasted millions.

    1. Thanks, DOS. Pies all round, except for the libs who're furiously spinning, wailing and gnashing their teeth.

  12. News to me, too. Hooah!

I have seen it written that God could not make a Stradivarius without the hands of Antonio Stradivari. I think there is a moral here--don't piss off the Parson.

    1. RHT, a fearsome moral! Now we have to get bank accounts unfrozen. Grrrr.

  13. Congratulations LSP! I would love to see the look on KJS' face when she heard the news, but then on second thought, following a wave of anticipatory nausea, I take that back.

  14. Nice to see a court get it right. It does not always happen that way. When the wife and I were members of St. James the Less, Philadelphia, we fought all the way to the PA Supreme Court and lost at every step. \

Every last person was present for the last Mass, and when it ended, we put the Prayerbooks back in the racks, snuffed the candles, and walked out through the grave yard, never to return again. ECUSA was left with an empty 19th century building in a bad part of Philadelphia, a building that costs a lot to maintain. The parish goes on today, now as St. John Baptist, Anglican Ordinariate, but my wife and I are now 1000 miles away.

    1. Fr. ACP -- I remember the case well, Rosemont too. Of course I was Rector of St. John's Norristown at the time. They wouldn't let me live in the rectory and the rest is history.

But St. James, what a tragedy. Went badly for Moyer too, sadly, and SJN's now a diocesan office. Fr. Niblo can't be happy about that...

  15. 12 million bucks paid to lawyers, and not one soul brought to Christ through these efforts?

Who knew? Congratulations on keeping the Compound (although from what I read in the newspapers, nothing good ever happens on compounds).

    1. I know, Fredd, it's bizarre.

But yes, the Compound lives to fight again another day. Thank God.
