Full disclosure: At first blush, I thought that it was an old video of the DLC on parade, but they didn't look that smart. Good, but not quite THAT good. Then I saw the Queen rather than Melania Trump and I said to myself, "ah", of course.
Carry on LSP.
(side note)
The Royal Navy is Britain's senior service. Why aren't THEY trooping the color?
Well done, and I would expect nothing less. We... don't do that. Our squadron turnovers consisted of the two COs in the office and one says to the other, "You got it?" "We've got it." Okay, I'm outta here." LOL
And...........this whole live streaming Mass is for the birds.
At first (in a rather paganish way) I thought, "Cool - don't have to put on makeup, fix my hair, dress up. I can sit in front of my computer and think holy thoughts"
Reality. Prayers at the foot of the altar = Erica kitteh demanding breakfast. The Introit = Frankie doggie having to go out and pee. The epistle and gospel = I have to pee. And on, and on.
Nope. I'm ready for makeup, hair, and dressing up again!
Mr. Wolf, you raise a very important question. And yes, the DLC's known for its smart turn-out when the occasion demands. You can be irreg. but that doesn't mean standards should slip, quite the reverse.
I have to say, NFO, that while I loved my boy's grad from Basic, it would've been even better with rifle drill, Guards style.
Speaking of which, too bad the UK's got rid of so many regiments, my own included. Canada was smart -- they kept the cap badges/units but made them reserve. That way they can expand in time of crisis, unit identity/pride intact.
Remember being in London in 1965 and watching the changing of the guard. The feel of history was, for me, palatable. Being in the US Army at the time, I could appreciate the work needed to march in perfect order.
Perfect! 🏴 🇬🇧 🙏
ReplyDeleteJuliette, STAND STEADY.

No one does pomp and circumstance like the British army.

ReplyDeleteFabulous!!! It's why they should bring back good marching bands to the NFL instead of skanky half nude no-talent bimbos shaking their rear ends.

And Jules, all about building morale. Nice daffs post!

ReplyDeleteDFTR.
I totally agree, Jim, and especially the Brigade of Guards. Pacesticks forever.

Adrienne, a big YES on both counts.
ReplyDeleteI'm not livestreaming the Mass but I will, against better judgement, provide links. Of course I'll be offering the sacrifice sin. pop.
Can I quote you?
You can always quote me.
ReplyDeleteWe're doing confessions out in the parking lot. How cool is that???
Adrienne, very!
ReplyDeleteSome brave or foolish priest was going about the streets of Italy with the Sacrament in a ciborioum offering Communion.Did you see that?
He's prob not doing it now...
