A Late Sunday Sermon - Swords About The Cross

There we were in the church hall after Mass in Mission #2, just enjoying the fellowship which flows naturally in the Mystical Body of Christ. One of the guys had returned from a trip to Israel, where he'd visited the Holy Sepulchre.

"It was amazing, they'd built this church over the place where He died!" Another churchperson, Colonel Z, seemed a little skeptical, "I'm told that if you put the pieces of the True Cross together they'd circle the world several times."

Needless to say, I have a great devotion to the True Cross, disastrous defeat at Hattin notwithstanding, and replied, "But Colonel, if you put the lies of the Democrats head to head in the last week alone, how many times would they circumnavigate the globe?"

He laughed, "My, at least a 100 times and that's a modest estimate." We all laughed and here, fellow warriors in the battle against evil, endeth the lesson.

  1. The totem of the Democrat party is quite appropriately, a donkey/an ass. However if you were looking for a Christian symbol for those folks, a 'double-cross' might be appropriate. The killers of the unborn, those who revel in the blood of innocent children, don't have much going for them. They will promise to take what you've earned - snatch the very bread from the mouths of your family - and will give it to somebody they deem to be more deserving. Maybe somebody who more reliably votes for them and for their disastrous policies.

  2. As someone who spent decades as a Democrat, including stints as a precinct committeeman, I'm sickened by what the Democratic Party has become.

Not going over to the other side. The Mitts, Jeb!, Norquists, etc. anger me with their smug attitudes. On the other hand people like Trey Gowdy I admire.

Back in sixty's, a cartoon summed it up. "The more my thinking turns to the Right, the more I find in common with the Left. I think I'm becoming a middle of the road extremist".

  3. The Demms seem to be a cross we are to bear, at least for now.
    Deliver us from evil, father.

  4. I always wonder about 'our' description of the cross, since at that time it appears that there was no piece extending above the cross pieces... And yes, lies, lies, and more lies...

  5. LL, I think their symbol's a Baphomet. And what can we say, thou shalt not suffer a witch to live?

  6. WSF, I'm no fan of the GOP but I like 45 for storming in and upsetting their gravy train.

  7. Good point, NFO, and I don't have an answer. Of course it makes sense to imagine an extension, easier to construct. That in mind, I believe in Helena's cross.
