You're thinking that bushcraft doesn't involve tractors. But what happens when your dogsled breaks down, your horse is sick, the buffalo's run off and you have to get out of the woods, out of the bush?
And let's not forget, the bush can be a hostile environment, it's best to go armed. Some prefer Glocks.

Why have I never thought of that? I could chug around on my Husqvarna and shoot stuff. Such FUN!!! (however, he didn't do to well with the watermelons.) Loved the chug chug sounds of that tractor.
ReplyDeleteToo many folks don't realize that tractors were the first all-terrain vehicles.
ReplyDeleteMattexian, weren't the first all terrain vehicles, donkeys?

Yeah, Hickock45
Brig, I thought about that while typing. "Self-propelled?" Nah, that covers horses, donkeys, and that buffalo. One could even say the original "all terrain" was just putting one foot in front of the other.
ReplyDeleteThe watermelons were weirdly bulletproof, Adrienne. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to get into the "what was the original ATV" debate but I will say this. A relative once thought that Burros were going to become the all terrain freighters of the future and invested heavily in a Burro operation. I think he lost a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteBurros certainly have their place, like the mountains of Afghanistan and certain national parks that prohibit motor vehicles in the backcountry, even to supply staffed camps. I wouldn't mind one in my back yard, keeping the grass trimmed and being ready for rides, tho one might not like the dogs' idea of playtime.
