Puppie Love, Baltimore

I drove out to visit the flock this morning. One of them had some puppies living in a horse trailer.

I thought that was pretty cute, unlike Baltimore, Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, Buffalo, Atlanta, DC; go on, take your pick! where civilization has broken down and no one, for some reason, can work out why.

Some people are saying that Baltimore PD will stand down when the city riots again, and in  case any of you haven't read it, Marilyn Mosby is trying to prevent heroin dealer Freddy Gray's autopsy from being released.

Surely Mosby doesn't want to hide anything.

Good luck, Baltimore.

Your Old Pal,

LSP

  1. I want to hug those puppies and smell their puppy breath.

Have you read this? I think you'll like it. Sums it all up nicely.

  2. Big city life sure ain't what it used to be, Reverend. Me an' the missus are taking a second trip to Hill Country, looking for that perfect lot to build the retirement hacienda.

Kerrville is looking like the place for us (home of Johnny Football, if you don't know who Johnny Football is, then you need to turn in your Texas credentials and move to Oklahoma). We're kicking the dirt and prickly pear cacti on some lots high up in the hills, where you can see 50 miles in each direction. Great location for preppers, if you're into that lunacy. We're not.

Looks like you an' me are gonna be neighbors, Reverend. Can you teach me to speak Texan? I already have some of the basics down, like saying 'y'all' constantly, and I know what 'fixin' to do something means, and of course 'I got me a hankerin' rolls off my Yankee tongue smooth an' easy.

  3. What does Blue Companion think of the new puppy?

  4. I agree, LL. Baltimore's probably gone but Blue will enjoy the other dogs and maybe the puppies... he's staying there next week while I teach a youth conference.

  5. Thanks for the link, Adrienne -- "what you think, you do. What you do, you are." Well said. The 60% figure is interesting too. At what point will we address the issue? I think the nation's incapable of doing so. I hope I'm wrong.

  6. Sounds like you're fixin' to prep up real good in those hills, Fredd. And who'll be safe and sound when the cities go up in flames? You will.

But seriously, I'd be glad to teach Texan, although it might come with an English accent. Still, as one grizzled old vet once said, "You may talk like a Brit, but you think like a Texan!"

I took that as a compliment, of course.

    Good luck with the move.

  7. Love the puppy pics! Hard to tell what Mama is, but I'm guessing Daddy was a neighbor's sneaky black lab. Maybe Blue Nanny can practice his herding skills with the pups, keeping them occupied.

I loved the land around Washington-on-the-Brazos, and recall the land up the road a little, where the Poor St Claire nuns lived and raised ponies and goats, went up for sale not long after we last visited the area, about a decade ago. Plus, it's very close to Brenham, which will be good once the Blue Bell ice cream starts flowing again.

  9. I LOVED that little St. Clare Monastery, Mattexian!! I've had pictures of the nuns and their miniature horses on my bedroom wall for years. I was so sad when they moved.

Adorable pups-- Let's hope Blue Paternal is sweet with them over the next week! Enjoy the St. Mike's conference. You'll reek of incense the entire time, based off last year's pics. :) But what's high church without thuribers?
