Bad Bishop

You have to feel sorry for Thomas Palermo. It's not every day that you go out for a bike ride and get killed by a hit-and-run woman bishop, but that's what happened in Baltimore on Saturday.

Assistant Maryland bishop, Heather Cook, knocked Palermo down in her SUV and didn't play the Good Samaritan. She did drive to her gated community residence, where she was followed by Moncure Lyon, who was determined to get the offending driver's license plate. Perhaps Heather had a guilty conscience, or maybe she saw that she'd been followed. Who knows; she did, however, return to the scene of the crime.

Palermo, a married father of two children, died of his injuries. Cook has a prior DUI conviction.

You can read all about it here.

  1. She'll go to prison....and I'm sure that somebody in the org. will consider her a martyr or some such.

  2. I didn't realize that the position of Assistant Bishop might be coming open for you. This would be the perfect opportunity for you to move into the comfortable shoes that the old drunk bitty left behind.

  3. Do you have one of those fancy crooks that you carry around in the pick-up? I would think that a saber and a revolver would be much cooler --- or put a spear tip or billhook on the top of that staff.

A trident tip would make you look too much like Satan if you're wearing red livery like the bishops in the picture.

  4. We can only hope she goes to prison for running away. Years ago, a bishop in Arizona got off with a slap on the wrist for a hit and run.

  5. I read about this and thought how horrible to not try to offer aid to a person you've just crushed. Maybe she was mad about her broken windshield.

Could the victim have lived if someone had rendered aid immediately? I guess we'll never know.

Happy New Year, LSP. Today's my birthday (13 minutes to midnight) so maybe you'll say an extra prayer for me. Pretty please??

  6. I'd be surprised if she goes to jail and Adrienne, Happy Birthday!

  7. There's clearly a job opportunity in the making, LL.

But maybe you should consider it? After all, they'll be looking for someone to run a "tight ship" after the booze soaked disaster that was Ms. Cook.

    And you're a Celebrity Pastor.

  8. I think that they'd balk at a camouflaged cassock...

More along your line. I may be God's travel agent, but you're the parson. It doesn't mean that we don't each have our roles.
