The Russians equate negroes with monkeys. I realize that it's not politically correct to make that sort of equation here in the US - but it's their point of view.
And they can't understand why a country like the US would elect Obama. They're not alone in that.
When I take my daughter to kindergarten in the mornings, I stay for the school assembly. Which means I dutifully face the flags on the stage and recite the pledges along with the students right before we all head our separate ways.
While it's not very patriotic of me, I can't deny that I feel a much stronger sense of pride while saying the Texas pledge than the US one...
