Devyani Khobragade, we apologize |
India's Deputy Consul in New York City, Devyani Khobragade, was arrested last Thursday as she dropped her daughter off at school. According to the Independent, Khobragade was handcuffed, strip-searched and kept in a cell with drug addicts before posting $250,000 bail. She is accused of falsifying visa statements for her low-paid housekeeper.
National Security, Hodson's Horse |
Khobragade's treatment has caused outrage in India. "It's despicable and barbaric," stated India's National Security Advisor, Shavishankar Menon. Others have gone further, with a senior member of India's opposition party calling for a round-up of U.S. diplomats' gay "companions".
Probyn VC |
“My suggestion to the government of India is, the media has reported that we have issued visas to a number of US diplomats' companions. Companions means that they are of the same sex," said Yashwant Sinha of the Bharatiya Janata Party. “Now, after the Supreme Court ruling," he continued, "it is completely illegal in our country. Just as paying less wages was illegal in the US. So, why doesn’t the government of India go ahead and arrest all of them?”
The LSP news team offers a sincere apology on behalf of the United States to Ms. Khobragade and the people of India, whom we congratulate for standing bravely against the pansexualist NWO agenda.

General Sir Dighton MacNaughton Probyn held a VC. So it should be "Probyn VC". The two European officers in the Hodgson's Horse photo taken at the siege of Lucknow by Felix Beato, are Lt Meacham (standing) and Captain Daly (sitting). The Indian officer on the extreme left is Man Singh and the seated officer is Jai Singh. A few days after this photo was taken Daly lost his arm while leading the Regiment.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that, Anonymous, always good to meet a fan of irregular cavalry.
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of encouraging pedantry, isn't it Hodson's Horse? And I see you take the britishempire.co.uk character attribution instead of the National Army one, which understands the seated officer to be Assistant Surgeon Thomas Anderson. The standing officer is Lt. Mecham in both instances.
Perhaps britishempire.co.uk is more accurate than the NAM? Interesting history, eh?
Amended Probyn to include VC...
Ride on.
rytmulrwyncynI must have been a Quaker in a past life because I believe it is our duty to affranchise cisatlantically
ReplyDeleteWas this woman a "low-paid housekeeper" or endured, and living in slave-like conditions?
How inconvenient that she was subject to a cavity search, and I certainly hope that this "housekeeper" was not treated as a odalisque
I'm sure the "housekeeper" was paid, er, handsomely, 3rd News. But isn't odalisque more on the Turkish side of things?
ReplyDeleteThe archaic definition is 'female slave in a harem' but it is actually a French translation of the Turkish word for 'chambermaid'
ReplyDeleteI purposefully didn't use a contemporary term because certain words bring interesting traffic
right -- and come to think of it, there's a certain Ottoman look to Probyn and the Hodsonites.
ReplyDeleteWhat would the National Army museum know? These guys were soldiers for Johnny Company not the British Army. The National Army museum does not even hold the Honourable East India Company records. Thomas Anderson was 25 in 1857. As the seated figure appears older than the standing one the seated figure is very unlikely to be Thomas Anderson. He is rather well armed for a surgeon - even in the mutiny.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right, Anon. It does look like Daly. Bad one, NAM.
ReplyDeleteI learned that Daly's received news of his wife's death on the day of his embarkation back to England and retirement from India, some 20+ years after the Mutiny. Sad.
