It's no easy task to brave I 35 for several hours but it was worth it to see Tom and collect a sporterized No.4 Mk.1. The next step is get the barrel crowned, trimmed and refinished/blued; express sights would be neat too. Restocking is another matter again.

Maybe get something from Boyd's and rework it to shape? It'd be an interesting project and not too expensive.

My Pleasure, and contrary to his complaints, Parson turned out to be a fair guitarist so we had fun with that as well.
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to own pistols, they may as well fire a reasonable cartridge like .450 Marlin or better. Taylor can have his "knockdown values" but I have real world experience with things dropping like ordained by God when you use an appropriate cartridge. For sake of neighbor relations, we didn't fire the .458 Lott pistol, but I can't promise that there wasn't some amusement of .460S&W max loads down range at one point.
Was good on this end to see Parson once again. Good fellow.
Barbecue, blasting things, guitars, tunes, bonfire, call me Peter Pan if you will, I don't mind!

Eye, it's a funny world where my BREN was pieced together from Canadian, Australian, and UK parts but nobody in any of those countries can own them :-) If you drift through Texas, I know some places to go ranging.

ReplyDeleteShe zapped a few square heads and has been reliably killing deer since my friend's dad brought it back. Actually became his primary deer rifle since 1945. Be interesting what Parson does with it.

ReplyDeleteLee Speed style's the pattern for the look of the thing. And the challenge is to produce that on a budget. A big learning curve for me.
