Posh Guns



Interesting visit to a member of the legal profession in Dallas viz. probating a will - interesting because he had an immaculate collection of Lee Enfields, Mausers and the odd American .30 in his office. A Texan variant, I suppose, of magazines in the dentist's waiting room and altogether more enjoyable - to me, anyway. After that it was a trip to the Beretta Gallery in Highland Park and a gaze at shotgun's I'll never be able to afford; beautiful bits of kit for the wealthy shooter and, at the 'doable' end of the spectrum, lots of Tikka/Sako variants. Didn't buy anything but it was uplifting to be in the proximity.

Then of course there's Climategate; ten out of ten Soylent Green points for fraudulent 'science' and a terrifying vision of, er, present day reality.


Don't eat those wafers, chaps - eat BBQ instead, better for you.

    Hmmm, NICE ! I like it....

    but if you can't afford it, I know I can't afford it.

    b'sides it looks to 'purty' to fit in on my farm.

    Although reading this just sparked an idea....

    I do have a VERY very old rifle been collecting dust for 10 years since grandpa died...I believe the date is 1857 or 47....been awhile since I had the plate off....but it is NOT a "looker"...would fit great in my dining room

    I know - they had lots of guns I'd be afraid of taking out in the field...

    I sure hope the soylent green sceanario doesn't come to pass. I'll have to watch that movie again, it's been so long since I saw it. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, and just eat turkey, stuffing, and veggies!

    Hey there Bunni - what good looking guns - beyond the reach of the miserable stipend though... I think we're safe on the Soylent front because we're depopulating - contra Ehrlich et al. I'll be sure to take your T/Giving advice!

    SBW - Ultralight is right nice... clothes are neat too - I might be able to afford a hat! Hope all's well in the land of Hope & Glory.

    I shot a Sako 30-06 once. The trigger action was unbelievably crisp. I can see why they're expensive guns.
