More Guns = Less Homicides?

After the Orlando shooting, you'd be forgiven for thinking that America is murderously out of control, but that's not true. According to FBI data, there are less homicides now than at any time since 1963, when there were 4.6 slayings per 100,000 people. As of 2014 there were 4.5.

The 1970s, '80s and '90s were far more deadly, as the above kill chart shows. So what's changed? At least two things; gun ownership and prison. As the US murder rate fell by 49% over the last 20 years, there was a 141% increase in the number of guns available to the public. By the anti-gun lobby's reckoning, America should be more violent now than ever, but no.

Prison is also a factor, with the last 30 years seeing a remarkable 790% increase in the federal prison population, from 25,000 to 219,000 inmates. It's presumably harder for violent people to go out and shoot someone when they're behind bars.

How Did You Get Here?

That aside, something's changed, something which makes people feel less safe and more likely to get shot at work in San Bernardino or a nightclub in Orlando, or a concert in Paris, or an office building in New York, or... the list goes on.

Oh Look, Islam

What's new here? Not more guns, statistics show that more of them don't add up to more shootings. Not jail time either, after all, you can't shoot up a club from the confines of your cell. So what's changed?

Like Buddhism, But Way More peaceful

Surely it wouldn't have anything to do with Islam.

Sweden Gets Raped

In 1975, Sweden was what you'd expect it to be, a peaceful, law abiding, Scandanavian haven of prosperity. It was probably dull; in between listening to Abba singles and fishing the fjords, Swedes probably didn't do a whole lot, so the government decided to change it up. How?

By importing over a million mostly Muslim immigrants from the Middle East and Africa, and what happened? Lo and behold, Sweden became the rape capital of the West and nearly the world, second only to Lesotho, with 53 rapes per 100,000 people.

That's an increase of 1,472% on 1975, when 421 rapes were reported to the police, as opposed to 6,620 in 2014. During the same period, violent crime increased 300%.

Surely the increase in sexual attacks against women in Sweden and the rest of Europe has nothing to do with, you know, massive Muslim immigration. It's not like the Quran sanctions sex slaves or that Mohammad owned a couple, or anything. Except, of course, that it does and he did. Go ask ISIS.

In the meanwhile, well done multicultural Swedes, you're getting up there with Lesotho in the rape leagues. And where's the feminist outrage? Oh, there isn't any.

That'd be Islamophobic.

The RAF Goes Jihad

Stephen Mustafa Gray

A former member of Great Britain's legendary RAF, Stephen Mustafa Gray, has been convicted on three counts of preparing acts of terror.

Gray, who served in the RAF Regiment as a gunner in the Iraq war, later converted to Islam and tried to join the Jihad in Syria. He was accompanied by another UK Muslim convert, Raymond Matimba, known as Abu Qaqa Britani Afro. Gray was turned back from Syria and returned to the UK, leaving Abu Qaqa to join ISIS in Raqqa.

Abu Qaqa in Raqqa

The two convert Muslims were assisted by a paraplegic Jihadi from Manchester, Abdal Raouf Abdallah, who worked for the Royal Mail. Abdallah has also been charged under the Terrorism Act, though Abu Qaqa Britani Afro remains at large.

Who knows, maybe the Russians will get Abu Qaqa, or maybe he's one of the deserters that ISIS recently buried alive

The Mailman

Some argue that there's an terrorist Muslim 5th Column in Great Britain. That's absurd. As everyone knows, Islam's a religion of peace, not terror. Like Buddhism, only way more peaceful.

Obama is Weird & Ridiculous. Germans Wake Up.

"Obama is ridiculous and weird," says London Mayor, Boris "Bojo" Johnson. And who am I to disagree? Britons, obey your ruler. But of course Bojo is entirely normal and not weird at all. Still, I'm not sure why he insists on messing about in pink cowboy hats unless it's a low gambit to win votes.

I say, Bojo, steady.

Regardless, we used to enjoy the occasional drink together back in the day, not that he'd remember. But speaking of weird, have you noticed how a German comedian is being prosecuted by Frau Merkel's State for making fun of Sultan Erdogan in a rude TV "bit"?

Nein!

Germans. You must stop this! Obey your Muslim Overlords and your Supreme Sultan, Recep Erdogan. There must be no more German TV with this mocking of your Sultan! It is for your good that you obey him and his servant Merkel.

This is Forbidden!

There must be an end to poems mocking your ruler, Erdogan, and his friendship with goats, young boys, and ISIS. This is forbidden. Forbidden with Jail! Germans obey!

Bojo, Cut it Out.

But seriously, you can go to jail in Germany for making fun of the crazed Muslim despot Recep Erdogan? Really? C'mon guys, don't put up with that.

In the meanwhile, let's have Hagia Sophia back. I'm counting on Putin.

Bake. The. Cake.

The U.K., never slow to pick up on some of America's discouraging trends, has taken to attacking Christian bakers for refusing to bake gay cakes. The latest example is from Northern Ireland, where Ashers was fined £500 for not making a cake with a gay slogan on it.

A member of our London-Nairobi Bureau has drawn attention to support for Ashers from an unlikely source, the U.K's famous LGBTQ activisit, Peter Tatchell. Writing in the Guardian, Tatchell states:

I profoundly disagree with Ashers’ opposition to same-sex love and marriage, and support protests against them. They claim to be Christians, yet Jesus never once condemned homosexuality, and discrimination is not a Christian value. Ashers’ religious justifications are, to my mind, theologically unsound. Nevertheless, on reflection the court was wrong to penalise Ashers and I was wrong to endorse its decision (emphasis mine).

Leaving aside his contentious understanding of Jesus' views on marriage, Tatchell goes on to make a compelling point. If businesses should not be allowed to refuse services or goods that promote lawful behavior, then what's to stop gay bakers from being forced to make cakes with anti-gay slogans, or Muslim printers having to publish cartoons about Mohammed, or Jewish printers being required to run holocaust denial stories?

Anti-discrimination legislation, apparently, has the unwelcome potential to produce the exact opposite of its intended effect.

Tatchell believes this dilemma can be avoided by making it unlawful to discriminate against ideas but not against people. "Discrimination against people," he states, "should be unlawful, but not against ideas."

It's a bold and well-intended call but ideas notoriously influence people, sometimes disastrously, and have to be held in check. Nazi propaganda, for example, was outlawed in post-war Germany and hate-speech mosques have recently been shut down in France.

Quite right too, we say with a hearty stamp of our ethical imperative, and I'd imagine that Tatchell would be hard-pressed to disagree with either of the above examples of discrimination against ideas. But who sets the boundary, society at large? Perhaps, but societies have a habit of getting things badly wrong, as in the case of the 1000 year Reich, or the savage Islamist world of Raqqa, or those countries in the West that want to force bakers and everyone else out of business for not getting gay.

It seems that an appeal to a higher law has to be made, and I'll leave you with the Pledge in Solidarity to Support Marriage, made shortly before the US Supreme Court ruled that gay marriage was constitutional and by implicit extension, that opposition to it was not.

Our highest respect for the rule of law requires that we not respect an unjust law that directly conflicts with higher law. A decision purporting to redefine marriage flies in the face of the Constitution and is contrary to the natural created order. As people of faith we pledge obedience to our Creator when the State directly conflicts with higher law. We respectfully warn the Supreme Court not to cross this line.

That Peter Tatchell, who made an amusing if cruel career of "outing" Anglican bishops, should sense that a line has been crossed is telling. Whether the tolerance industry that he helped create will take any notice of his ideas is another matter again.

And So It Begins, A New Dark Age

The Iraqis are building a wall around Baghdad to stop Jihad barbarians from driving into the city and blowing it and its people up.

If anyone thinks this is reminiscent of the later Roman Empire and the Dark Ages, they'd be right. The wall will be three meters high, made of concrete and backed up by a trench, or "moat."

Constantinople's walls were considerably larger and held back the barbarians until the 15th century. We'll see how long Baghdad's new wall lasts and have to ask how many other cities will follow suit.

Some Americans believe that a wall should be built around Detroit, but that would be to keep the barbarians in.

Cheers,

Get Back!

All too soon the retreat was over and everyone drove off into the metrosprawl to their various destinations. You need a retreat after that drive, so I spent the night in Dallas before heading back to the rural idyll that is The Compound.

What did I gain in the few days away at Montserrat retreat house? A new-found appreciation for the rule of St. Benedict, Chesterton, and a significant dose of humility mixed with contrition. All very good things, as was the company of fellow clergy and the opportunity to worship together.

It was good, too, to step away from the news for a short time, but I couldn't help noticing that a 17 year old Danish woman is going to be punished for fighting off a "refugee" with pepper spray. The message seems pretty clear; women of Europe, don't you dare defend yourselves against your new Islamic overlords.

So where's the feminist outrage? That seems to be in inverse proportion to the number of Germans purchasing firearms. Or, to put it another way, there isn't any.

Make of this what you will,

Feast of Stephen, Tyson Fury

No sooner are our Christmas day celebrations over, than the Church brings us face to face with martyrdom, in the person of St. Stephen, it's his Feast today, and the Holy Innocents.  It seems that the Word made Flesh attracts enraged, deadly opposition.

That was true then and it's true now, with more Christians dying for their faith than at any other time in history. Of course the secular governments of the West are complicit in this, not least in their refusal to protect the Christians of the Middle East.

Be that as it may, here's the Collect for the day:

GRANT, O Lord, that, in all our sufferings here upon earth for the testimony of thy truth, we may stedfastly look up to heaven, and by faith behold the glory that shall be revealed; and, being filled with the Holy Ghost, may learn to love and bless our persecutors by the example of thy first Martyr Saint Stephen, who prayed for his murderers to thee, O blessed Jesus, who standest at the right hand of God to succour all those who suffer for thee, our only Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

Tyson Fury

St. Stephen, pray for us, and I wish everyone a happy Boxing Day.

God bless,

Busted!

Hacker group VandaSec have traced a number of ISIS social media accounts to the British Government, in London.

According to the Daily Mirror, Jihad recruiting efforts over the internet can be traced to the UK's Department of Work and Pensions.

However, the UK's rulers have excused themselves of directly supporting the white running shoe head choppers by claiming that the IP addresses in question were "sold to the Saudis."

Reassured?

ISIS Laughs.

Putin, ISIS And Obama, or, Caught in The Act

Feel free to translate Barack Hussein Obama's exclamation any way you like. And remember, what this so-called blog lacks in nuance, it gains in enthusiasm.

ISIS laughs, or it would, if it wasn't for Russia.

Well done, Putin.

El Nino Calls Out ISIS

Notorious weather bandit and cartel kingpin, El Nino, has threatened ISIS leader, Al Baghdadi, after ISIS interfered with a drug shipment.

“You [ISIS] are not soldiers. You are nothing but lowly p*ssies. Your god cannot save you from the true terror that my men will levy at you if you continue to impact my operation."

Al Baghdadi

“My men will destroy you. The world is not yours to dictate. I pity the next son of a wh*re that tries to interfere with the business of the Sinaloa Cartel. I will have their heart and tongue torn from them.” El Nino said in an email, cartelblog.com reported.

El Nino is on the run, after escaping from a maximum security prison in Mexico, and is popularly known as "Shorty."

It seems a new front has opened in the war on ISIS, but who will win? Shorty, or Baghdadi?

The bets are on,

FEMSOC Libs Go Full Burka

At Goldsmith's, who'd have thought?

The dismal spectacle of radical queer activists, feminists, and sundry other progressives, professing solidarity with Islamists is at once fascinating and enraging. Whatever kind of higher education survives in ISOC’s utopian caliphate, it’s certain that no feminist or LGBTQ+ societies will be permitted to exist.

Way to go, dhimwhits. You can read it all here.

Anti-Jihad Kit Review -- The Eureka Airspeed One Turbo

You can sit back and let all the others do the work in the war on terror, but don't start whining and crying when the local mujahideen chop off your buddy's hand as you pay your taqiya. Sure, go right ahead and do that. Or you can get proactive and bring the fight to the enemy.

That's what I did today, in the form of a Eureka Airspeed One Turbo. The Eureka promises to move "MORE AIR" as it "REMOVES MORE DIRT," all thanks to something called "Airspeed Technology."

That's the marketing, does it deliver? I decided to find out by testing this anti-terror tool against some Jihad dirt that was hiding out in an old Moslem carpet.

The Eureka's easy to assemble, and in no time at all a number of Takfiri terrorists were cleaned out of their strongholds and thrown in the trash where they belonged.

So yes, the Eureka works, and it's lightweight, too, which gives this dirt-buster good operational versatility. It also has a 25' cable, ensuring longer continuous action against the so-called "militants," and an array of attachments for hitting stairs, crevices and upholstery.

You'll note the weapon is accented in electric lime green, giving it high-viz recognition to friendly forces. An asset on this battlefield.

Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes, I would. The little beast works. Is it tactical? I'd have thought that was obvious. But how much does it cost? A bit less than 2 "value" packs of Remington .223. Are there any cons? I didn't find any on this test run against the enemy.

So go out and get a Eureka Airspeed One Turbo and play your part in beating the Jihad back on the home front.

You can find them at Walmart, on the other side of the store from the guns and ammo.

Walk Against Jihad

Everyone has to play their part in the war against global Jihad, and I did mine, by taking Blue EOD for a walk through the autumnal boulevards of ye olde Dallas this morning.

My K9 ordnance expert  wasted no time sniffing for potential IEDs and keeping a keen nose out for any random sleeper cells that were thinking of cooking-off for Allah.

He launched at a bus that roared by the 7/11, it wisely didn't stop, and at a Salvation Army truck. Come to think about it, I'll have to work on his threat recognition software...

Then, after a mile or so, the patrol was over and we found ourselves back at HQ. Unscathed. I thank God for that.

Mind how you go,

Obama Just Can't Say Muslim Terrorist

President Obama still can't bring himself to say that a premeditated attack by devout Muslims with semi-auto rifles, pistols, thousands of rounds of ammunition, a bomb factory and self-proclaimed allegiance to ISIS was a terrorist attack; an Islamic terrorist attack.

He just can't make the massive, almost Kiekegaardian, leap of faith that connects Sayed Farook and Tashfeen Malik to global Jihad. But he can say ban guns. Here's Pamela Geller:
San Bernardino is in one of the most stringent gun control states in the country. The fact is that these mass shootings usually take place in gun-free zones — except for the attempted jihad massacre at our free speech event in Garland, Texas last May. That jihad attempt had the best of all possible outcomes, because the jihadis were greeted by armed freedom fighters.

And again:
Obama’s jihad-free counter terror policies and jihad denial is the cause of this catastrophic intelligence and law enforcement failure. Obama has blood on his hands (adding to the rivers of blood of Christians in Syria and Iraq.) But the message from the administration is, Get used to it. Disarm and get used to it. And the media follows after him like the man with the shovel after the circus elephant, always eager to clean up the messes he makes.
But to balance things out, here's a rainbow unicorn.

You decide which side you're on.
