Such is the circumstance in San Francisco. Everyone living there is either fabulously wealthy, or a bum. No middle class to speak of.

The baristas at Starbucks in San Francisco live 50 miles away, the closest area they can afford. Ditto with all the teachers, firefighters, police and other support personnel. Similar situation exists in Manhattan, NY where the only people with any money are the tourists, the fat cat Wall Street and Madison Avenue types, and the mafia guys. Everybody else is broke, and live across the river in Hoboken, Trenton and Patterson, NJ.Freddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10778430453468720627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3407817413258733695.post-21877888708053213962016-03-01T06:11:02.821-08:002016-03-01T06:11:02.821-08:00Thanks Adrienne, high praise from a real cook... b...Thanks Adrienne, high praise from a real cook... but I thought they turned out right, not always a given.LSPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08120630078039958644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3407817413258733695.post-74601774264639474332016-03-01T06:09:44.522-08:002016-03-01T06:09:44.522-08:00One of the best things, Lukeya. One of the best things, Lukeya.LSPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08120630078039958644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3407817413258733695.post-76632870173341533882016-03-01T06:09:16.419-08:002016-03-01T06:09:16.419-08:00I know, LL, it's pretty unorthodox, but it was...I know, LL, it's pretty unorthodox, but it was a Friday (no meat) and I was at a loose end, so...LSPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08120630078039958644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3407817413258733695.post-47015892445363582662016-03-01T06:07:56.530-08:002016-03-01T06:07:56.530-08:00That's a great story, Fredd. And maybe you can help me out here -- how can a country exist for any amount of time as a "service economy" when it's not manufacturing and selling the goods that pay the wages that allow people to buy the "services"?

I'm confused by that.

LSPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08120630078039958644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3407817413258733695.post-67351527587344272122016-03-01T05:04:26.231-08:002016-03-01T05:04:26.231-08:00Those look mighty good, LSPThose look mighty good, LSPAdriennehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01562944653624224107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3407817413258733695.post-4471841402923455762016-03-01T04:48:18.396-08:002016-03-01T04:48:18.396-08:00Oh yes...we had roast beef with YP last night Padr...Oh yes...we had roast beef with YP last night Padre. It's quite the delicacy across the pond, from what I hear. Her father was an English cabin boy on the Carpathian, the ship that rescued the survivors of the White Star Line's ill fated Titanic. He sailed on it in 1914, a few years after that little incident, and ended up in New Jersey, where he later got a job as a mill wright in a textile factory up north.

So much for my Yorkshire pudding story. Yours is better.Freddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10778430453468720627noreply@blogger.com
