A Room With A View

Keen-eyed observers will recognize downtown Dallas as seen from the 9th floor of Methodist hospital. But why, you ask in that wondering way, were you there? Because Ma LSP thought it'd be a good idea to lift a large and heavy planter on the back deck. No, it was not a good idea, it was a bad idea, which resulted in a compound stress fracture in her lower back.

Fortunately, she was able to make her way across the street to a good neighbor who drove her to Methodist, and one of the LSP sisters was able to help out to boot, very much so. Me? I tipped up today after Mass at Mission #2, Sacrament in pyx, and full of filial piety. Thank God, we all agreed, that surgery wasn't on the cards.

Surgery. No small thing at any time, much less in your 80s. As it is, she''ll have to wear a brace, she calls it a "corset," and go to rehab for a week or so, then back home. Good thing there's family in the area, eh?

Well, I left her watching Bonnie & Clyde just as the sun set over the glassy towers of the Metrosprawl, setting them ablaze with its light. Dear friends, you'll note from the above photo that one of our buildings is made of gold. Yes, gold. Surely not some kind of parable.

But more on this hospital scenario anon. In the meanwhile, do say a prayer for Ma LSP's full recovery.

Yours,

LSP
