What's Going On?!?

"What's going on?!?" I asked my furry compatriot across the  expanse of the Compound's small but efficient kitchen. He couldn't answer because he can't speak, being a dog, but I knew what he was thinking.

A dead parliament of traitors in the UK doing their best to reverse the vote of 17.4 million people to leave the EU, aided by a gang of unelected, unaccountable Remainer Judges. Well he couldn't put his emotions into words but I knew what the growl meant, "This underhand, cowardly, traitorous, sly, unconstitutional, cunning malfeasance needs to be expunged from the Sceptered Isle root and branch." Hey, Blue Leveler, roll on a General Election.

Then there's America. I knew my four legged Digger friend was thinking that the same globalist uniparty creating static in the UK was taking its cue from its allies across the Atlantic. As with Brexit, they can't face the fact that they lost an election, so what to do? Everything in their power to overturn the will of the people, from an intel agency coup to today's pathetically sub par attempt at impeachment. And all, ironically enough, in the name of democracy.

We'll see how it turns out, with President Trump performing like dynamite at the UN and surging in the polls as yet another bogus smear campaign's launched from the Left. "Impeach the President!" runs the hysterical refrain without pausing to ask for what. Because the US Commander in Chief spoke to a foreign leader or would that be exposing the Biden family's pay to play? Wiley Coyote, meet anvil.

Pundits predict a Trump/Pence 2020 landslide and with that, a new day begins.

Striper!

The sun loomed large and fiery in the rear view mirror and with it the promise of fish, the mighty Striper; and thanks to a friend's generosity we had a guide to put us there. Great result and a morning full of promise. Would it deliver?

It did, though it took a while, perhaps because the thunder, lightning and torrential rain of the night before had stunned the fish. After all, they're not used to Texas paying its weather tax.

Still, within a short blast across the lake we were getting results. Watch that rod go double and double again, as the ferocious predators tore into live shad. Big fun and a taste of things to come.

After an hour of scudding across the water from spot to spot, worth it for the ride alone, we ran into a school of Striper. There we were, waiting, when all of a sudden the bite switched on.

Brisk action, as rod after rod twitched and was pulled down into the water; it was fish on and make no mistake, right on the stroke of 11 am.

We limited out shortly and headed back to the marina after a friendly chat with a game warden, who floated over to say hi.

He has his hands full, dealing with lake riff-raff, clowns on speed boats and ne'er do wells up to aquatic skulduggery. Good guy. Then it was time to leave the lake, mission accomplished.

Big thanks to Pat and S.O. for a great day out on the water and a freezer full of Striper.

Fish on,

Wake Up!

You're sleepy? Look here, you bandits. The day starts at 5.

And so it did, starting with day one. By the time the sun was rising, there we were, on the way to somewhere in Texas to hunt hogs. We passed through Gustine, Blanket, Brownwood, San Angelo and weren't too far from Mexico.

Switch on, Bandits

"So whaddya do if you meet an illegal alien, kids?" Moment of silence and then, "Send him up to the Mother Ship?" Another moment of silence, "Well, I'd give them a meal and a beer. Then maybe I'd build a wall."

If You Meet The Buddha on The Road...

We set up up camp and got after the pigs. That meant climbing up into stands and scouting trails, and the result?

Therein lies another tale.
