Winston Churchill RIP

Day late and a Pound Sterling short but yesterday was the anniversary of Churchill's death. You may scorn Churchill because he wasn't a Bolshevik stooge of the NWO. I say he rises, like a hero.

What a wonderful video, and wonderful rendition of I Vow to Thee My Country. RIP Winston. Tears!
I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

And there's another country, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.

Equally appropriate are the lyric to All God Beyond All Praising set to the same music:

O God, Beyond All Praising (including the elusive second verse.
Proulx

O God, beyond all praising, we worship you today
and sing the love amazing that songs cannot repay;
For we can only wonder at every gift you send,
at blessings without number and mercies without end:
We lift our hearts before you and wait upon your word,
We honor and adore you, our great and mighty Lord.

The flower of earthly splendor in time must surely die,
Its fragile bloom surrender to you, the Lord most high;
But hidden from all nature the eternal seed is sown
Though small in mortal stature, to heaven’s garden grown:
For Christ the man from heaven from death has set us free,
And we through him are given the final victory.

Then hear, O gracious Savior, accept the love we bring,
That we who know your favor may serve you as our King;
And whether our tomorrow be filled with good or ill,
We’ll triumph through our sorrows and rise to praise you still:
To marvel at your beauty and glory in your ways,
And make a joyful duty our sacrifice of praise!

Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.

The Man Who Saved England.
And they voted him out.

And not a word here. Wonderful video.
Thank you, Adrienne for the words.
We could use a Churchill, Thatcher or Regan right now. But they would be as... hamstrung? as President Trump.
And the demoncrats lied to Regan as they have to Trump and the American people on numerous occassions. And the people who care are too spread out to stop it.

Winston Churchill. The right man at the right time. If Chamberlain had remained in charge history may have been far different.

"Why Sir Winston, I do believe you are drunk!"

"Yes, madam, quite drunk. But you are ugly, and I shall be sober in the morning."

"Sir Winston, if you were my husband, I would give you poison!"
"Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it."

He had a thousand of those gems. Just an aside, I am a graduate of Winston Churchill High School in Eugene, OR.

So moving, Adrienne! I've posted it before and I'll do it again.

Commies weren't happy with Winston, Ed.

Linda, looks to me like the Democrats have become People of the Lie. Mind you, the GOP's right up there too.

And yes, another Churchill, please.

Jim, I always think Chamberlain has a strangely modern feel. You could see him politicking his way into keeping the UK part of the EU, all the while selling sovereignty down the drain.

Still, in fairness to him, he was up against Hitler who didn't play by the rules.

I love Churchill quotes, Fredd. In fact, I have a pack of them as fridge magnets. Inspiring.

"He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire."

There were giants in those days and perhaps Churchill was one of the last.
