Ride English

In a ferocious bid to break personal stereotyping I decided to go horse riding, Saturday being as good as any other day. I rode English for the first time in a while and really enjoyed it. Keep those legs down, LSP!

Simon and Pistol

Don't get me wrong, I like Western too, a lot, but maybe English -style forces you to work on basic equestrian skills. More contact, too.

Dzerzhinsky

Keen-eyed observers of the religious scene are speculating that Felix Dzerzhinsky and Anton LaVey are the two top contenders for the soon-to-be vacant position of Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church.

LaVey

Is there an outside contender?

Ride on,

LSP

Has anyone ever seen LaVey and Dzerzhinsky at the same party?

Didn't think so...

I prefer to ride a western saddle just because. I've also ridden bareback and that's ok if you put a blanket down to protect the horse from "you". I've also ridden my (well trained) horse without bridle or hackamore, bareback, holding on to the main and using knees to guide the horse. I'm not bragging. That was a very long time ago. I could only do it now with a horse who was comfortable with me as a rider and as a person -- and likely I'd fall off in the attempt and break my fool neck.

Dzerzhinsky? LaVey?
What about Simon or Pistol? Can I write them in?

I'm beginning to think that they're the SAME PERSON!

Interesting ballot result, if so.

Never ridden bareback, oddly, and I think I prefer Western too, not that I'm an expert.

My Tbred used to speed along -- legs were all you needed (love that). She was also insane.

I especially like Pistol's "White Arrow."

But write away.

Took dressage from an ol cowhand, a tough task master. A beautiful way to ride bareback, one with your horse.

The pros tell me that dressage gives big advantage to Western competition...

Insanity is bred into T-Breds, which is why I favor a Morgan or Quarterhorse.

Jenny - always pushing for a write-in vote... ;^)

Brighid - Dressage is interesting. I never attempted it, but a well trained horse that is one with the rider almost does that as a matter of course. Not as precisely, to be sure, but horses want to please you when they love you.

Riding has to be one of the best things. I'd go out every day without fail, if i could.

The Nazarene tells a parable about a wealthy landowner and his troublesome tenants. The summation is a line stating that the religious leaders will lose their authority and be replaced by others whose belief is more genuine.
