Stop it.

All bad

I know this site is supposed to be about 'God, Guns, Church and Country Life in Texas' but I'm open to requests. Here's one, from the frozen wilds of Ontario:

"LSP I think the time has come for someone (you) to make a stand against the horrific new expression ‘reaching out’.

As in ‘ I’ll reach out to him if you like?’ (I’ll give him a ‘phone call).  Its new American business English and frankly – vile.  Psychobabble.

LSP – take a stand please."

Bad Ginsburg 'reaching out' to bad long-haired layabouts
 'Take a stand'? Gladly.

God is against 'business English' in general because it's nonsensical drivel and against the unpleasant phrase 'reaching out' in particular because it's deceitful drivel, turning an emotive pastoral expression (the priest reached out to the bereaved), into some kind of synonym for a dubious business deal (our sales force is reaching out to KPMG to leverage best benefit at the channel to market interface).

So don't anger God, 'who for our sins art justly displeased', by compounding the interest with 'business speech'. It's dishonest and wrong.

Enough to make me reach out for m'gun.

I despise anything PC, especially when it comes to my scripture. When the NIV folks came out with the TNIV version (Now, without genders!) they lost all my business.

If you are so sensitive that the word "men" offends you, you need professional help, not a watered down version of the Bible.

Well said, Bluesun.

Inclusive language, like liturgical dance, clown 'masses' and such-like lunacy, is abhorrent.

I like the KJV, especially.

I find it sort of creepy when someone (you) is reading my blog at the same time I'm reading their blog. Did that make sense?

Anyhoo - what's really funny about the term "reaching out" is that it originated with high end criminal types i.e. one crime family reaching out to another crime family.

My personal "send me to the moon" phrases are "at this point in time" and "closure."

Hey - my capcha is "bacona." Is that perhaps Latin for female bacon? Yum!!

It is a little creepy, Adrienne... wasn't aware of the criminal flavour of 'reaching out'. Interesting.

'Closure' is particularly obnoxious.

I've just been in a meeting today where this card would have been completed. Easily. Within the first 10 mins. And the evangelical fervour in evidence was the salesman's enthusiasm for his percentage.

As gun carrying is much more controlled over here I'll have to restrict myself to mentally adding that salesman's picture to the target at the range this evening.

Buzzword bingo has great advantages when played for alcohol though. I only vaguely remember the end of the last State of the Union speech because I was listening to that with whisky.

Alright there, SBW. Always reassuring to find a bit of common ground with the Creator.

I'll be sure to heave one up for air rifle and world peace. But you must have a pint(s)for me -- no pubs here, you see; deeply displeasing to the Lord.

Sorry about your meeting, ASE. You must lobby harder for sensible gun control -- it'd make the miscreants think twice.

Still, have fun 'reaching out' at the range.

Must remember the bingo/potus/whisky tip next time The Commander goes on the air...

Bravo! Very tightly argued theology. I love it!

Nothing to do with "god" or religion, or "PC", actually.

But you are correct.
It's a load of rubbish.

Bullshit baffles brains.

Thanks Silverfiddle, nothing quite like a dose of 'bizno speech' to get the theology going.

Cheers.

Glad you like the theology, Tingey.
